When you go to paint a building there are so many steps to go through that it?s easy to forget the importance of using the right product for the right layer and location of your project. We can break down the types of interior commercial areas that require coating into three categories: high-traffic, high-exposure, and high-aesthetic, all of which have their own specific needs.
High traffic areas would include commercial hallways and corridors, airport terminals, transit stations, gymnastics and sports venues, theaters and auditoriums, locker rooms, schools, correctional facilities, and light manufacturing facilities. These areas would require a hard and tough coating, a smooth finish, high abrasion resistance and outstanding stain resistance, and resistance to commercial cleaning solutions. To meet these qualifications, your primer for the drywall could be ProMar 200 Zero VOC Primer, Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler for the concrete block, Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer for the smooth masonry, Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer for the steel, and Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer for the aluminum. For the topcoat, you can use Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or Pre-Catalyzed WB Epoxy for the drywall, smooth masonry, steel, and aluminum, while you can use Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy alone for the concrete block.
On the other hand, high-exposure areas include laboratories, commercial kitchens, chemical storage areas, manufacturing/processing plants, shower and wash rooms, public restrooms, laundry facilities, animal clinics, and indoor pool areas. For these areas, you want a system to provide heavy-duty protection and resistance to: corrosion, harsh environments, repeated washing and cleaning, commercial chemicals, and moisture. Priming these areas you should use ProMar 200 Zero VOC Primer for the drywall, Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler for the concrete block, Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer for the steel and aluminum, and Pro-Industrial High Performance Epoxy, Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy, or Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer for the smooth masonry. Topcoating any of these areas you should use Pro Industrial High Performance Epoxy, Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy, or Pre-Catalyzed WB Epoxy.
Lastly, high-aesthetic areas include lobbies, restaurants and cafeterias, healthcare facilities, office buildings, retail stores, hotel and hospitality, museums, community centers and other high visibility areas. For these types of areas, you need quick dry times, outstanding stain resistance, and a smooth finish. When priming these areas, the drywall requires Pro Mar 200 Zero VOC Primer, Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block FIller for the concrete block, Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer for the smooth concrete, Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or Pro-Cryl Universal Primer for the steel, and Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Universal Primer for the aluminum. When top coating these areas, the drywall and concrete block require Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy, Acrylic Coating, or Pre-Catalyzed WB Epoxy, Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or Pre-Catalyzed WB Epoxy for the smooth masonry, and Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy or DTM Acrylic Coating (light or moderate) for the steel and aluminum.
